Chef Hokune Haruka brings over 10 years of culinary experience and stands as the only female Head Chef and Chef Owner in Malaysia's male-dominated sushi industry. Now in her sixth year in the country, Chef Haruka first came to Malaysia in 2018 under PDS Hospitality Group, serving as Sushi Chef at Sushi Azabu, KL. She was soon promoted to Head Chef, leading the renowned restaurant throughout her tenure. In 2023, Chef Haruka stepped out of her comfort zone to start her entrepreneurial journey as a Chef Owner, co-founding Hanareya Hospitality Group alongside local F&B restaurateur, Gino.

 
 

Back in Japan, Chef Haruka is highly respected among her peers, having won multiple prestigious national culinary competitions. In Malaysia, she is regarded as one of the top Japanese chefs and was selected to represent the Embassy of Japan, cooking during a cross-cultural event with the Embassy of Australia.

Chef Haruka’s dream has always been to educate, sharing her culinary expertise with the next generation. Her deep knowledge of Japanese cuisine continues to drive the multi-dimensional growth of her company.
